Thomas Edison is quoted as saying: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." All of Edison's failures eventually lead to something great, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the Miami Marlins. Tonight, the Marlins found 10,000 ways that didn't work, and still failed.
The night can be aptly summarized by the back and forth banter between Rich Waltz and Preston Wilson in the top of the 6th inning. Waltz, turning to Wilson: "The only thing keeping Preston going at this point is that he can eat one of those cheese bakes." The Milwaukee Brewers obliterated the Marlins and even the broadcasters struggled to pay attention. Thankfully, Waltz and Wilson's fascinating commentary actually drew me away from the game. What is a "cheese bake," and why does Wilson love them so much? Furthermore, Waltz stumbled over the words "cheese bake," so perhaps he misspoke?
The words "cheese bake" reverberated through my head as if they came from a divine source. If eating a "cheese bake" helped Wilson pay attention to the game, could it do the same for me? I needed to find out, so I asked the most knowledgable person I know: Google.
Unfortunately, despite my extensive research, I could not discover the identity of a "cheese bake." Could it be a sandwich from "The High Cheese" food truck in Section 13? Section 13 is below the broadcast booth, so perhaps Wilson is eating "cheese bake" sandwiches between innings..... wait what were we talking about again? Oh yes, the Marlins faced the Brewers in a baseball game.
The Marlins played mistake free baseball tonight with impeccable fielding and controlled pitching:
Great work boys!
The Marlins just made too many mistakes tonight and struggled to pitch in the zone. The game unravelled in the fourth inning as the Brewers scored three runs and eventually cruised to a 10-2 victory.
Wei-Yin Chen faces Chase Anderson in the series finale tomorrow night at 7:10 pm ET. If the game is anything like tonight's, you may need to find yourself some "cheese bakes."
