Miami Marlins morning news: Adam Conley continues to build momentum

After a promising end to the 2015 season, Adam Conley is battling for a rotation spot this spring and he had another successful outing in a scrimmage yesterday afternoon. Plus links on Ichiro Suzuki and Adeiny Hechavarria.

Adam Conley and David Phelps pitched in a minor league scrimmage on Miami's off-day yesterday, with the former throwing four effective innings as he battles for a rotation spot in what would be his first full-season in the major leagues. Phelps threw 46 pitches as he looks to come back from an arm fracture last ended his season seven weeks early last year.

Everyone knows that Ichiro could join a very select club this year if he collects his 3,000th MLB hit, but he is not taking anything for granted as he battles declining production and, perhaps, a much smaller role with the Marlins this season.
