On Monday, the Marlins signed starting pitcher Edinson Volquez to a two-year, $22 million deal. Since we are in the year 2016 and the golden age of social media, of course there were plenty of reactions on Twitter. Here are some of them.
Baseball Blogger Jeff Sullivan brings up Volquez’s 2008 season with the Reds, in which he posted a 3.21 ERA and 9.46 strikeouts per nine in 196 innings.
life is mostly dreaming about 2008 Edinson Volquez and getting 2016 Edinson Volquez

Rustin Dodd, who covers the Royals for The Kansas City Star, mentions how Volquez will always be loved by the Royals.
Edinson Volquez's time in KC was pretty short. But his place in franchise lore is pretty secure. https://t.co/sVthsrwsjI

As usual, the fan reaction was all over the place. There will always be positive and negative people.
Edinson Volquez will help fill #Marlins rotation next two years. Can't do much worse than Wei-Yin Chen, right?

Hate to see Edinson Volquez leave my @Royals, but glad to have a chance to watch him up close with the @Marlins next season.

Edinson Volquez is a Marlin now, letting that sink in, and I'm cool with it

Given the pathetic market for starters, 2/$22 mm for Volquez isn't the worst thing in the world
