Marlins Morning News: Prado serves as player-manager

Marlins News:

Martin Prado served as the Marlins player manager, while Jeff Mathis will serve as the bench coach. Manager Don Mattingly is looking for his players to have some fun in the 162nd game of the season following what has been an incredibly tough week.

Jose Fernandez’s agent, Scott Boras has started a trust fund for Jose’s unborn daughter. Many Marlins’ players have pledged to contribute to the fund.

The Marlins plan to be on of six teams to work out Cuban free agent infielder, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. The 22 year-old Gurriel is considered one of the better international free agents.

In the final game of the season three of the four Wild-Card spots were determined, the Orioles, Giants, Blue Jays all clinched with victories in today’s finale.

Legendary Dodgers broadcaster, Vin Scully called the final game of his illustrious 67 year career. He gave his final goodbye to Dodger fans.

David Ortiz played his final regular season game at Fenway Park and was honored by the team. Ortiz’s number will be retired next season.
