Coming off a series loss to the Nationals, the Marlins opened a home series with the Phillies Tuesday night. The Fish lost to the Phillies 2-6 in the series opener. Miami's starter Tom Koehler pitched for five innings giving up three earned runs in the loss.

In the first inning, Philadelphia scored when JT Realmuto had a throwing error on a double steal, allowing Aaron Altherr to score.  During the second inning, Freddy Glavis hit an RBI single allowing Ashe and Blanco to score. Ashe scored again in the fourth but this time on a solo homerun.

The Phillies continued to add to their lead in the seventh when Darin Ruf hit a homerun off Chris Narveson.

Miguel Rojas was the first Marlin to get a run on the board when he hit a two run homerun in the seventh with Dietrich on base.

Philadelphia ended any chance of the Marlins coming back in the eighth when he hit his second solo homerun of the night in the eighth off Raudel Lazo.
