Miami Marlins morning news: Dee Gordon named Roberto Clemente Award nominee

Dee Gordon was named as the Marlins representative nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award. Plus links on Henderson Alvarez, Ichiro, and more.

Marlins News

Dee Gordon has had a great season for the Marlins on the field, and his performance in the clubhouse and off the field has garnered notice as well. Gordon was named the Marlins' nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award.

Although Henderson Alvarez struggled to stay on the field in 2015, the club is likely to tender a contract to the 25-year-old pitcher.

The Marlins projected starting outfield coming into 2015 missed a lot of combined games. Ichiro proved to be a solid emergency, fourth outfielder.

Heading into the season, the Marlins biggest strength was expected to be their outfield. Due to injuries and struggles at the plate, the outfield turned out to be a carousel.

Around the League

After being no-hit for over eight innings, the Yankees came from behind to win a stunner in Tampa Bay.

Cuban pitcher, Yadier Alvarez, was named MLB.com's number one international prospect.

Joe Panik's season is likely over due to lingering back issues.

The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, Corey Kluber, is set to finally return to the Indian's rotation this Thursday.
