Postgame notes from Marlins' 8-3 loss to Padres

The Marlins dropped game one of the three game weekend series on Friday night.

MIAMI -- Despite a Derek Dietrich game-tying solo home run to right field in the ninth against Craig Kimbrel, the Marlins fell the Padres 8-3 in 11 innings in front of 19.582 at Marlins Park on Friday night.

Postgame Notes:

  • Dietrich's ninth inning home run was the second game-tying solo home run of his career.
  • Adeiny Hechavarria's second inning single to right field was his 100th hit of the season.
  • Hechavarria bats .318 when slotted in the eight spot.
  • Yelich's two-run home run in the bottom of the first was his first of the season at Marlins Park.

Miami can bounce back with a victory in game two of the series on Saturday night. Jose Urena will take the mound for the Marlins. Urena was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans prior to Friday's contest and it set to take Mat Latos' spot in the starting rotation.
