Soto, 25, is batting .275 in Double-A. Pineyro 23, has posted a 3.69 ERA over 107.1 innings in Double-A.
MIAMI -- Dan Haren was thought to be a candidate to be dealt in August but the Marlins have found a deal they like. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times, the Marlins have sent Haren to the Cubs.
Haren, 34, was acquired from the Dodgers in the deal that sent Dee Gordon to Miami. He has made 21 starts and posted a 3.42 ERA and 4.57 FIP over 129.0 innings. The move comes a day after the Marlins dealt Mat Latos to Los Angeles.
Since the Dodgers are paying the majority of his 2015 salary, the Marlins were expected to consider keeping Haren. Haren is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Now without two of the starters in their opening day rotation, the Marlins are likely to add starting pitching before Friday's deadline. The club is reportedly interested in adding controllable young arms.
