Marlins vs. Padres: Game 103 Thread

The trade deadline is upon us, and soon we shall learn who shall come and who shall go...and the Marlins will also play a baseball game.

I should send you all packing.
I should send you all packing.
Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Had the baseball gods been kind and bestowed upon the Marlins good health and good fortune (and, perhaps, some more talent), we would be sitting here today ready to discuss what kind of help we expected to see brought in today before the clock strikes 4PM EST. Contention is not Miami's lot this year, however, and so we await word of the fates of the Derek Dietrichs and the Martin Prados of the world, in hopes that the Marlins might snatch up a decent prospect or two.

The Padres, meanwhile, haven't confirmed in one way or another that they're still in it, but I suppose we'll know by the time the game starts. As of the time I write this, Ian Kennedy is slated to go for the Padres and David Phelps will toe the rubber for the Fish, a re-match of last Saturday's contest in San Diego.

Pitching Matchup
4-7 3.86 3.72 Phelps Kennedy 5.26 4.58 6-9

Ian Kennedy may or may not actually pitch this game. He has not been great, but a xFIP of 3.85 suggests he'll be better going forward, for the...Padres?

David Phelps has had one run of support his last three games, so he's hoping for better at home this go-round.
