The Marlins are off to a slow start in the second half, coming off of a three-game sweep at the hands of the Phillies. The Fish look to get back on track as they open a road series against the Diamondbacks.
Pitching Matchup
ERA | Record | Strikeouts | Marlins | Diamondbacks | Strikeouts | Record | ERA |
3.86 | 4-5 | 60 | Phelps | De La Rosa | 99 | 6-5 | 5.06 |
Phelps has allowed only one earned run over his last three appearances. However, the D-Backs tagged him for four runs in a loss earlier this season.
Meanwhile, De La Rosa had one of his best outings of the year against the Fish back in May -- giving up two runs in nine innings.
Martin Prado hopes to provide an offensive spark for the Fish as he faces his former team. In two separate stints in Arizona, Prado played in 155 games in 2013 and 106 games in 2014 for the D-Backs.
Notes
-Phelps needs to control his pitch count so he can try to go deep in the game to help the struggling Marlins bullpen.
-Derek Dietrich is hitting .538 in his last seven games.
Bold Prediction: Marlins out-muscle the D-Backs 6-5.
