Mike Lowell considered becoming the next Marlins manager. According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, while Lowell did not receive an offer, he had disccusions about the vacancy after Mike Redmond was fired.

Lowell told WSVN-Fox 7’s Steve Shapiro that he and the Marlins "had talks" after Mike Redmond was fired.

"Was there interest? Yes," Lowell said. But the Marlins and Lowell said there was no offer to the former third baseman, whom owner Jeffrey Loria holds in high regard.

Dee Gordon will not be starting the All-Star Game after dislocating his thumb. But he will still travel to Cincinnati so the Marlins have a representative introduced.

Miami got on the board early and topped Johnny Cueto on Sunday afternoon at Marlins Park.

Dan Haren has pitched well throughout the first half and tossed six innings of one run baseball against the Reds in his final start before the All-Star break.

Marlins pitcher Jarlin Garcia tossed tossed 1 2/3 innings in the Futures Game and allowed three runs.

Jose Fernandez could have been pitching for the Reds.

Mat Latos was scratched from his Saturday start with a toe injury but is not expected to be placed on the disabled list.

Donovan Solano is back with the club and could play second base in Gordon's absence.

Steve Cishek is drawing interest and might be dealt before the end of the month.

Haren has thrived and may be pitching for another club moving forward.
