Miami was seeking a series victory on Sunday afternoon. But Zack Greinke was dominant and the Marlins couldn't rally as the Dodgers took the series with a 2-1 victory at Marlins Park.
Los Angeles got on the board first in the top of the fifth, when Jimmy Rollins singled and advanced to second on a balk. Joc Pederson subsequently walked before a Howie Kendrick ground out gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.
Kendrick walked with two outs in the seventh and scored on an Adrian Gonzalez RBI double which doubled Los Angeles' lead.
Jose Urena tossed five innings while allowing one run and walking and striking out four. Carter Capps, David Phelps, and Sam Dyson all pitched well in relief, however Mike Dunn allowed a run in 0.2 innings out of the bullpen.
Greinke tossed 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out six.
Miami went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position and had an opportunity to tie the game in the ninth before Kenley Jansen ended the comeback attempt.
The Marlins are off on Monday before hosting the Giants for a three game set beginning Tuesday night.
