Justin Nicolino will make his major league debut on Saturday night. Tom Koehler was scheduled to make the start in game two of the three game series with the Reds, however according to Clark Spencer of The Miami Herald, Koehler has been plagued by back and beck pain, and as a result Nicolino will get the start.

Koehler, 28, has posted a 3.76 ERA and 4.65 FIP in 79.0 innings to this point in 2015. He has been durable in the back end of Miami's rotation, which has been plagued by injuries to Mat Latos, Henderson Alvarez, and Jarred Cosart.

While Spencer believes Koehler is out with an injury,'s Joe Frisao hears a trade involving Koehler and Brad Hand is being discussed.

Nicolino has posted a 2.87 ERA and 4.53 FIP in 78.1 innings with Triple-A this season. The Marlins wanted to ensure Nicolino would remain in the big league rotation once he was promoted, however if Koehler is healthy and not dealt, he might be optioned again at some point.

Nicolino will oppose former Marlin Anthony DeSclafani on the mound. Jhonatan Solano was designated for assignment to make room for Nicolino on the roster.
