Marlins vs. Rockies: Game 64 Thread and Ichthyomancy

The Marlins look to follow a tough road trip by completing a four-game sweep of the Rockies at home.

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

It was a week ago when the Marlins grabbed the rubber match in a series against the Rockies in Denver. Now, they try to win their fourth straight to rebound from getting swept in Toronto earlier this week. This series has seen a trend of Marlins pitching dominance. David Phelps' best outing of the year was followed by Jose Urena's first win. Mat Latos returned to his vintage form yesterday and Dan Haren attempts to follow in their footsteps today.

Pitching Matchup

Home ERA ERA Marlins Rockies ERA Road ERA
1.96 3.12 Dan Haren Jorge De La Rosa 5.53 2.19

Dan Haren (6-2, 3.12 ERA) has been one of Miami's better pitchers this year, especially at home, where he is 3-0. His counterpart, Jorge De La Rosa (3-2, 5.53 ERA) fairs better on the road this year. Due to ballpark factors, neither Haren's home numbers nor De La Rosa's road numbers should come as a surprise. De La Rosa and Haren have been eerily similar of late, each going 2-0 in their last three appearances and pitching 7 innings of 3 hit, 2 run ball in their last start.

Today's Lineups

Charlie Blackmon - CF Dee Gordon - 2B
DJ LeMahieu - 2B Martin Prado - 3B
Troy Tulowitzki - SS Christian Yelich - LF
Carlos Gonzalez - RF Giancarlo Stanton - RF
Nolan Arenado - 3B Marcell Ozuna - CF
Ben Paulsen - 1B Jeff Baker - 1B
Nick Hundley - C J.T. Realmuto - C
Brandon Barnes - LF Adeiny Hechavarria - SS
Jorge De La Rosa - LHP Dan Haren - RHP

Although a small sample size, Christian Yelich is batting .333 in the third spot of the order this year and .289 in that spot throughout his career. Maybe the shift to the three hole will get Yelich going on offense.

- The Marlins have outscored the Rockies 15-2 in the first three games of this series

- Who would have thought the pitching would be this good this series? With Jose Fernandez, Henderson Alvarez, and Jarred Cosart on the DL, the Marlins have held down the second best offense in regards to batting average (Yes I know it has to do with Coors Field, but 2nd is impressive).

Bold Prediction: Marlins win 5-2
