The Miami Marlins jumped ahead early and were able to hold their lead despite constant scoring threats from the Nationals in a 3-2 win Tuesday night in Washington.
Mat Latos got his long awaited first W of the season in 6.1 innings of work giving up two hits, and one earned run with six Ks. Stephen Strasburg had his third loss of the season with two earned runs. Strasburg pitched only three innings because of a hurt shoulder.
Miami got on the board in second inning after Ichiro Suzuki drove in J.T. Realmuto with an RBI single. Later in the same inning Mat Latos layed down bunt that Strasburg was unable to successfully throw to first resulting in Ichiro scoring on the error.
Washington's only run of the game was on a ground out to third by Dan Uggla that allowed Ryan Zimmerman to score.
Steve Cishek earned his second save of the season in the game while Nick Masset, Mike Dunn, and AJ Ramos all had holds. The bullpen allowed only one hit in the victory.
