Despite falling to the Phillies yesterday by a score of 6-2, the Marlins were able to take yet another series and are 8-2 in their last ten games, making the dreadful 3-11 start seem a distant memory. Standing before them today is the pre-season National League darling Washington Nationals. The Nationals are 5-5 in their last ten games and are coming off a tight 1-0 victory over the New York Mets.

The pitching match-up today is Jordan Zimmermann vs. David Phelps. Zimmermann's K/9 rate is down against his career averages while his walk rate is up, but he's also been the victim of some shoddy defense behind him which has resulted in an elevated BABIP against. We can probably expect him to return to the pitcher Marlins fans know and do not love sooner rather than later. Phelps has been consistent since being plugged into the rotation. He gave up two runs in six innings in his last go-round against the New York Mets.

Notes:

-If Alvarez was ready to come back today, who would you remove from the rotation?

-My computer bugged out, hence the missing pitching match-up table and slight lateness of gamethread as I scrambled to re-type everything. I'll put it up when I get back from work if Scott or Michael haven't already.

-Go Fish!

Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Nationals 5-3.
