Miami Marlins place Michael Morse on 15-day disabled list

Jose Urena is recalled in the corresponding move.

Miami has been plagued by injuries of late and the club will now be without one more starter. The Marlins announced they placed Michael Morse on the 15-day disabled list with a right finger sprain on Tuesday afternoon.

Jose Urena, who will start tonight's contest against the Pirates, was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans in the corresponding roster move.

Morse has had a slow start to the 2015 campaign, posting a .211/.268/.289 batting line in 37 games to complement two home runs and ten RBIs. Prior to placing Morse on the disabled list, the Marlins chose to have Justin Bour start a handful of contests at first base.

Bour will likely receive the majority of playing time at first base in Morse's absence. Morse joins Henderson Alvarez, Mat Latos, and Jarred Cosart as Marlins who have been placed on the DL over the last few days.

The Marlins may opt to have Brad Hand or Andre Rienzo start Wednesday, however Justin Nicolino could also be promoted to make the start. Miami will make an official announcement after Tuesday's contest against the Pirates.
