Miami has lost their sixth straight home game after a 6-1 loss against the Diamondbacks. The Marlins last home win was May 2nd against the Phillies. David Phelps struggled against the hot Diamondback's lineup and the offense couldn't hit Chase Anderson, who pitched a stellar eight innings.
Arizona jumped ahead in the first inning off Phelps when David Peralta grounded out, allowing A.J. Pollock to score. During the second inning, Nick Ahmed doubled to left driving in Aaron Hill. After Ahmed stole second he was able to score when Chase Anderson grounded out.
Jumping ahead to the fifth inning, Miami still hasn't scored any runs. A.J. Pollock continued to pile the runs on for the Diamondbacks when he stole home on a failed attempt to pick off Peralta at first by Phelps.
David Phelps was removed from the game after pitching only five innings giving up four runs. Carter Capps came in and gave up a sacrifice fly from David Peralta that allowed Pollock to score.
Brad Hand later was put in by Dan Jennings for the eighth inning. After Hand was taken out, Bryan Morris had one inning of work in the top of the ninth. He gave up RBI single to Peralta that allowed Pollock to cross home for the fourth time on the night.
The Marlins were able to score their only run in the top of the ninth on a Giancarlo Stanton ground out that allowed Justin Bour to score.
