Shelby Miller almost no-hit the Marlins but Justin Bour refused to let it happen. Bour's ninth inning single ended Miller's no-hit bid. Bour told MLB.com's Joe Frisaro he just took advantage of a fastball:
"All of Shelby's stuff was working good tonight, so I was just looking for that first good pitch that I could do something with," Bour said. "He got me pretty good that first at-bat, and I just took advantage of a fastball on the last at-bat."
Miami dismissed Manager Mike Redmond and will likely announced its new manager at this afternoon's press conference. Redmond was extended before the end of last season.
After firing Redmond, the Marlins are in pursuit of a new voice. The club may opt for an internal candidate.
Mat Latos was struck by a line drive during Saturday's loss to the Braves, but he will make his next scheduled start.
Owner Jeffrey Loria is not afraid to fire managers. And after dismissing Redmond that became even more apparent.
Steve Cishek has struggled to this point in 2015 and his inability to throw strikes consistently may result from a delivery issue.
