At 16-22, the Miami Marlins have not had an ideal start to the 2015 campaign. The club has been plagued by injuries and an inconsistent bullpen and the organization is prepared to move on. Miami announced it has dismissed bench coach Rob Leary and Manager Mike Redmond, with an interim manager expected to be named on Monday.
The Marlins extended Redmond before the end of last season and Clark Spencer of The Miami Herald was among the first to report Owner Jeffrey Loria was not pleased with the team's performance. Towards the end of April, it was reported several replacements were already being considered, with Wally Backman thought to be the favorite if Redmond was fired.
Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins' offense have had some success of late, but with Henderson Alvarez spending time on the disabled list, Jose Fernandez still bouncing back, Steve Cishek struggling, and a lack of stability at the catcher position, the Marlins have yet to put together a lengthy winning streak.
