In many other games this season the Marlins had a lead going into the ninth inning, but have blown it and taken a loss. Wednesday was a different story. After Cosart was removed from the game because of an injury, the bullpen did its job to maintain the lead.
The Marlins took the lead in the top of the third inning after a ground out from Giancarlo Stanton that allowed Dee Gordon to score. Carlos Frias gave up a single to the Marlins starting pitcher Jarred Cosart who drove in JT Realmuto.
Cosart gave up his first run in the fourth on a wild pitch that allowed Alex Guerrero to score from third after his triple. In the next inning Coasart gave up two-run homerun to Enrique Hernandez. To continue the bleeding Joc Pederson hit a solo homerun.
In the seventh inning, Miami was able to take the lead after a pair of RBI singles from Martin Prado and Giancarlo Stanton.
Sam Dyson was credited with the win while Bryan Morris and Mike Dunn had holds. Most importantly A.J. Ramos got the save.
