Miami Marlins morning news: Steve Cishek blows another save

Steve Cishek blew a save for the second consecutive game as the Marlins lost 5-3 to the Dodgers in the series opener. Plus links on Steve Cisek, Craig Counsell, and an amazing play from Giancarlo Stanton.

After blowing his third save opportunity of the season against the Giants on Sunday, Steve Cishek blew another late Marlins lead in Miami's 5-3 loss last night.  After Christian Yelich two-run home run in the ninth inning to give the Marlins a 3-2 lead, Cishek came into the game, got one out, allowed a walk followed by a hit, and then served up a three-run, walk-off home run to Scott Van Slyke.

Tom Koehler pitched six strong innings, while only allowing one run on three hits. Marcell Ozuna also hit a home run, which was his third of the season.

Giancarlo Stanton is in a slump at the plate, but he is keeping it up in the field as showcased by his fantastic double-play last night, which saved a run. Watch here.

After being traded from the Dodgers to the Marlins in the offseason Dee Gordon and Dan Haren are both enjoying solid starts to the 2015 season. Both players are looking for revenge in their first match-up against their former club this week.
