Miami opted to designate Jarrod Saltalamacchia for assignment because of his offensive inconsistencies, however J.T. Realmuto's success behind the plate may have also factored into the club's decision. Juan C. Rodriguez notes pitchers are fond of Realmuto and Dan Haren has been notably impressed.

"He did outstanding calling pitches," says Dan Haren of Realmuto’s work in an April start. "I thought it was going to be really tough for him because I throw a lot of pitches in a lot of different counts to different sides of the plate, and he did really, really good."

Steve Cishek blew another save on Sunday afternoon but is not ready to panic. He has only successfully saved three of six contests although the Marlins are likely not prepared to explore other options.

Dee Gordon is prepared to face his former team as the Marlins open a series with the Dodgers. His bat has been hot and he is thriving at the top of the Marlins' order.

Christian Yelich batted in the five spot on Sunday and Giancarlo Stanton got the day off. Yelich has proven to be flexible and has had a slow start offensively.

The Marlins are still seeking consistency from their lineup. Gordon and Adeiny Hechavarria have had a notable amount of success to this point in 2015.
