Miami has dropped the first two games of the 2015 campaign, with Mat Latos struggling on the mound last night. The Marlins will look to take the final game of the three game series with the Braves on Wednesday night. Shelby Miller will oppose Tom Koehler on the mound.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | BRAVES | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.24 | --- | --- | Koehler | Miller | --- | --- | 3.56 |
Koehler was slotted in the three spot of the rotation because of a blister that plagued Jarred Cosart towards the end of the spring. Miami will be seeking a quality start from Koehler, since the bullpen was taxed in Tuesday's 12-2 loss to Atlanta. Miller will make his first start as a member of the Braves.
Lineups
The Marlins will go with a lineup comparable to those used in the first two games of the series. Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been in a few tough spots offensively, and as a result, Jeff Mathis gets the start tonight.
Former Marlin Cameron Maybin gets the start in center field for the Braves, with A.J. Pierzynski catching Shelby Miller.
Notes
-Can the Marlins get a W? The club is still looking for its first win of 2015.
-How will the middle of the order perform? Atlanta has kept Giancarlo Stanton and Michael Morse off balance through the first two games.
-Will Koehler turn in a quality start? Steve Cishek, Sam Dyson, Bryan Morris, and Brad Hand all pitched out of the bullpen on Tuesday.
Bold Prediction: Marlins top Braves 6-1
