Dan Haren pitched well and Adeiny Hechavarria drove in three runs as the Marlins topped the Nationals 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Marlins Park. Miami swept Washington and has won five in a row heading into a three game series against the Mets.
A Bryce Harper home run gave Washington an early edge, but an Hechavarria three-RBI triple against Gio Gonzalez in the third gave Miami a 3-1 lead.
Denard Span posted an RBI single in the fifth, but a Giancarlo Stanton RBI triple and Marcell Ozuna sacrifice fly gave the Marlins a three run edge.
Ichiro Suzuki followed a J.T. Realmuto triple with an RBI single in the sixth, and the Marlins' bullpen held the club's four run lead.
In five innings, Haren allowed two runs while walking and striking out three. Sam Dyson tossed an inning of relief, and A.J. Ramos was efficient in a pair of scoreless innings. Steve Cishek ended the contest with a scoreless ninth.
