After a slow start offensively the Marlins were able to take the first game of a three game series against the Nationals. Mat Latos gave up two earned runs with four strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Although Latos didn't get the win it was still a good outing.
The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when Bryce Harper hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Ian Desmond to score.
In the next inning the Marlins jumped ahead 2-1 after Mat Latos hit and RBI single off Jordan Zimmerman. Then right after Dee Gordon drove in Adeiny Hechavarria with a single.
Again in the sixth Bryce Harper got on base with an RBI single scoring Denard Span to tie the game at two a piece.
Miami's third baseman Martin Prado scored the go ahead run in the eighth leading the Marlins to their sixth win of the season.
Bryan Morris got the win while pitching a hittless inning. The save was given to Steve Cishek who also gave up no hits while walking no one.
