Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run and David Phelps pitched well as the Marlins topped the Phillies 9-1 on Thursday afternoon. Miami won two of the three series on the ten game road trip.
Phillies starter Dustin McGowan had kept the Marlins off the board through three innings before walking the bases loaded in the fourth. Hector Neris entered the game but Miami took a quick 4-0 lead that would not be lost.
A Martin Prado RBI double and Stanton home run led to a four run sixth inning, which gave Phelps all the support he would need.
In seven innings, Phelps walked two and struck out five but did not allow a run.
Mike Dunn pitched a scoreless eighth, and Nick Masset allowed a run in the ninth before ending the game for the Marlins.
