MLB Scores: Miami Marlins 6, Atlanta Braves 2

Miami topped Atlanta and won its first series of 2015.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Adeiny Hechavarria thrived on his birthday and Dan Haren tossed seven innings as the Marlins topped the Braves 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon, winning their first series of the 2015 campaign.

Eric Stults got the start for the Braves, and the Marlins were able to take a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the third. J.T. Realmuto walked and Hechavarria singled before a Dee Gordon RBI double scored a pair.

The bottom of the order had success against Stults, and after Realmuto opened the fifth with a double, Hechavarria hit his first home run of the season which pushed the Marlins' lead to four. Stults allowed four runs and five hits in his five innings.

Haren was able to keep the Braves off balance, and with the exception of a Cameron Maybin home run in the sixth and Kelly Johnson home run in the seventh, was efficient. In his seven innings, he allowed two runs and three hits, the first of which came with two outs in the fifth.

Michael Morse homered in the sixth and Hechavarria added a sacrifice fly in the ninth, and Mike Dunn and Steve Cishek each added a scoreless inning of relief en route to Miami's second consecutive victory over the Braves.
