MLB Scores: Marlins 8, Braves 2

Marlins get their second win of the season in an offensive showcase against the Braves.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

After a rainy night in Atlanta, the Marlins walked away with their long awaited second win of the season. The Fish started the game with something that has been missing since opening day, offense. A great pitching performance by Tom Koehler combined with Giancarlo Stanton's bat finally heating up were the largest contributors in an all around 8-2 team win.

From the start, Trevor Cahill struggled. The first inning opened with Giancarlo Stanton singling driving in Dee Gordon from second. Next, Martin Prado hit a sac fly that drove in Ichiro. Topping off this fast start was a Michael Morse double scoring Giancarlo Stanton. In the first the Marlins already had three runs on the board, more than they scored in any game against the Braves this season.

In the third Marcell Ozuna was walked by Cahill with the bases loaded, scoring Stanton from third. After this play Fredi Gonzalez removed Cahill from the game and went to Sugar Ray Marimon for relief.

Marimon gave up an RBI single in the fourth to Stanton, scoring Gordon.

The Braves threatened with solo home runs from Freddie Freeman and A.J. Pierzynski off Koehler in the fourth.

Marimon stayed on the mound for the Braves through the seventh. He gave up a sac fly to Dee Gordon in the sixth.

Mike Redmond pulled Koehler from the game after 5.1 innings, giving up only two runs with three strikeouts.

To finish off the Marlins second win of the season in the eighth, Giancarlo Stanton hit a double that drove in Jeff Baker and Ichiro.

Tom Koehler earned his first win of the season in the Marlins 8-2 win. A.J. Ramos had the hold. The the rubber match of the series is Wednesday at 12:10 in Atlanta.
