The Miami Marlins players sported matching t-shirts for the first day of full squad workouts. The emphasis was on team spirit and pulling together to achieve success this season. With so many new additions for 2015, it is imperative that relationships are formed early and everybody gets on the same page so that there is a good atmosphere in the clubhouse.

Newly-acquired Ichiro is 41 years of age, but he still feels that youth is on his side. Although Ichiro made his Japanese professional debut a couple of months after Christian Yelich was born, he wants to be included in the conversation of the Marlins' young outfield.

Due to his numerous impressive performances last season, many wondered why the Marlins traded Dan Jennings to the White Sox for the seemingly below-average Andre Rienzo. Well, Marlin Maniac wonders too, especially when the Marlins are now looking for more left-handed pitching depth out of the bullpen.

New commissioner Rob Manfred recently said that he would consider shortening the baseball season to 154 games in the future. However, that would result in eight fewer opportunities to see Giancarlo Stanton and the rest of the Marlins. Obviously, this would be a bad thing.

For star slugger Giancarlo Stanton, the higher expectations haven't changed a thing. He expressed that the Marlins have to put the work in to be successful and reach the postseason this year.

Around the League

The ace of the Cardinals, Adam Wainwright, is being sent to St. Louis to be examined for abdominal pain. After trading Shelby Miller to the Braves for Jason Heyward, this is not the news the team wanted to hear.

The Cubs have hired Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis as consultants. This could be very beneficial to a young Cubs lineup full of up and coming prospects.

Cuban sensation Yoan Moncada has signed a record-setting contract with the Red Sox. The 19 year old's signing bonus was nearly four times that of the previous record, set by Yoan Lopez of the Diamondbacks.

Alex Rodriguez embraced Chase Headley at Yankees camp yesterday. I bet that wasn't an awkward situation at all.
