Marlins News

Miami has expressed interest in extending Dee Gordon and talks to do so might progress at this week's Winter Meetings, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

The Marlins are hoping to add a front of the rotation arm and will consider all available options before doing so.

Barry Bonds was recently named the Marlins' hitting coach and Tim Wallach has been named the club's bench coach.

The Winter Meetings should give the Marlins an opportunity to add a starter to their rotation.

Contrary to other reports, the Marlins are not shopping Fernandez or Marcell Ozuna.

Henderson Alvarez was non-tendered by the Marlins and is now a free agent.

As the Marlins are exploring starting pitching options, cost will likely be a key factor.

Wade Miley and Ian Kennedy could emerge as targets for the Marlins.

Around the League

Los Angeles signed Hisashi Iwakuma on Sunday night.

The Tigers signed Jarrod Saltalamacchia to a one-year deal.

Chase Utley is headed back to the Dodgers.

Ryan Madson will be pitching out of the Athletics' bullpen in 2016.

2016 Miami Marlins Offseason Plan: A.J. Ramos trade - Fish Stripes
The Marlins should not have a strong need for a shutdown closer, and A.J. Ramos may not be the most reliable choice. His value may never be higher than after the 2015 season.

Alvarez had success while healthy. But the Marlins decided tendering him a contract was not worth the risk.

-Miami Marlins signing Kenta Maeda would make a lot of sense - Fish Stripes

The Marlins need a top of the rotation arm, and two Japanese stars on the same team could send the team's international revenue sky-rocketing.

Miami could turn to Ian Kennedy in its pursuit of Ian Kennedy.
