Miami didn't make any notable deals during the meetings, but their search for starting pitching has been narrowed down after multiple targets, like Wade Miley and John Lackey, were taken off the market by other teams.

Don Mattingly has expressed his excitement to start work with the Marlins. He will inherit a squad that finished 2015 strongly and is looking contend.

With the Diamondbacks obtaining Shelby Miller, it appeared yesterday that the Dodgers were one of the few teams with remaining interest in Jose Fernandez, and the farm system to strike a deal.

However, it was later reported that talks had fizzled out and Fernandez would remain the ace of the Marlins' rotation.

The Marlins want another power bat at first base to complement Justin Bour, and there is a free agent who hit 37 home runs just a few seasons ago. His name: Chris Carter.

Around the League

The Astros have apparently strengthened their bullpen by acquiring the stand-in closer for the Phillies this season after, Jonathan Papelbon was traded, Ken Giles.

The Mets have struck a deal with the Pirates which sends second baseman Neil Walker to the Big Apple and Jon Niese to Pittsburgh.

The Orioles have offered MLB home run leader Chris Davis7-year, $150 million dollar contract to try and avoid losing him to free agency.

According to many analysts, the Braves just got away with highway robbery in the Shelby Miller trade. They say the D-Backs gave up way too much talent, but Arizona wants to win now.
