Miami Marlins morning news: Shaky Cosart start dooms Fish

Jarred Cosart couldn't get out of the fifth inning as Miami dropped game two of the Citrus Series. Plus links on Justin Bour, Adam Conley and Adeiny Hechavarria.

Marlins News

The Marlins believe that Adeiny Hechavarria has a legitimate shot at winning the NL Gold Glove at shortstop this year. While he boasts impressive numbers, spending the last month of the season on the DL hasn't helped his cause.

Despite not having his best stuff on Tuesday, Adam Conley battled through six innings and gave the Marlins a chance to win. His composure and promising arm gives him a chance of making the back end of the rotation to start the 2016 season.

Justin Bour has been somewhat of a revelation for the Fish at first base this season, but has he been impressive enough to earn the starting job for next year?

Giancarlo Stanton has been shut down for the rest of the season. With only four games remaining, that comes as a surprise to no one.

Mike Dunn's new 'Expendables' themed tattoo pokes fun at how bullpen arms are always replaceable. The ironic thing is that there is no guarantee that he'll be in the Marlins' dugout next season.

Around the League

The Marlins now have the second-longest playoff drought in baseball after the Blue Jays booked their postseason ticket for the first time since 1993.

The Cardinals became the first team since Philadelphia in 2011 to win 100 games as they beat the Pirates to clinch the NL Central.

The Mets received a scare when Yoenis Cespedes was hit on the hand with a pitch and had to leave last night's game. X-Rays came back negative, though.

It is possible that a 163rd game will be played by two teams this year as three teams in the AL Wild Card race are separated by one game in the standings. 11 game 163's have been played before, and here are the recaps.
