The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves face off again, and once again it will be Alex Wood taking the mound for the Braves versus Nathan Eovaldi for the Fish. Here's hoping it doesn't go exactly like the last time these two faced.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | BRAVES | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.75 | 3.32 | 4.19 | Eovaldi | Wood | 2.92 | 3.21 | 3.38 |
Nathan Eovaldi was excellent in his last start versus the Braves, as he went 6 2/3 innings and struck out six with only one run allowed on a solo home run by Evan Gattis. He was great, but Wood was even greater, as he went eight innings and shut out the Fish with a 12-strikeout masterpiece. If we get a repeat, it may be a nice outing by Eovaldi but a rough one for Miami's offense.
Lineup
The Marlins turn to their lefty lineup, and that includes smartly replacing Jarrod Saltalamacchia, even if it is with Jeff Mathis. Jeff Baker is also in as Garrett Jones gets a second straight night off.
Bold Prediction: Braves def. Marlins 2-1
