The Miami Marlins may have expected a good chance to win tonight's contest against the Atlanta Braves, but the Fish walked into a blowout unexpectedly. The Fish got an excellent offensive output from their batters tonight, and that all started with Marcell Ozuna. The Ozone put up four hits, including two well-struck doubles, and drove in four runs en route to the Marlins' spectacular offensive performance.
The Fish started off hot in the first and stayed that way. Christian Yelich doubled, Donovan Solano singled, and Casey McGehee and Ozuna singled in consecutive plate appearances to put Miami up 3-0 early on. Ozuna and Justin Bour then doubled home two runs with two outs in the third inning. The Fish tacked on a couple of runs here and there, then the seventh inning rolled around and Miami turned on the afterburners. The Fish scored three more runs in the seventh and eighth inning to leave the Braves in the dust.
Ozuna was not the only high-roller in tonight's game. Solano also had four hits. Giancarlo Stanton, Adeiny Hechavarria, and Bour tacked on two hits a piece. Each starter, including starting pitcher Jarred Cosart, got aboard with at least a hit.
Meanwhile, Cosart looked dominant on the pitching side as well. He baffled the Braves again, striking out six batters in 7 2/3 innings. The final inning was a rougher time, as he gave up three late runs, including a solo shot by Freddie Freeman. But through six innings, he was without a walk allowed and had made six Braves look foolish at the plate. Cosart spent most of the game peppering the strike zone, and it kept the Braves at bay even as Miami pulled away with more runs.
