After dropping game one, the Miami Marlins took the second game of Friday's day/night doubleheader with the Washington Nationals 15-7.
A Casey McGehee RBI single in the first gave the Marlins an early lead against Taylor Hill, but Washington scored three times against Heaney in the bottom of the frame. Michael Taylor led off the innings with a double, and Kevin Frandsen, Jayson Werth, and Wilson Ramos (groundout) all added RBIs to make it a 3-1 contest.
Miami got one run back in the third, with Justin Bour scoring on an Adeiny Hechavarria groundout.
Heaney was pulled after four innings during which he allowed four runs and struck out three.
Steven Souza homered against Heaney in the bottom of the third, but a big fifth inning got Miami's offense rolling. Reed Johnson, J.T, Realmuto, and Hechavarria all added RBI extra base hits in a five run top of the fifth.
Although Washington added a run in the fifth and sixth, a Justin Bour two-RBI double and Hechavarria single in the seventh put the game out of reach.
An Enrique Hernandez ninth inning grand slam puncuated the offensive outburst.
Brad Penny allowed a pair of runs in an inning and two thirds of relief, but A.J. Ramos, Anthony DeSclafani, and Carter Capps all pitched well out of the bullpen.
