Miami at one point in the year was one of baseball's best teams in one run games, but fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in game two of the three game series on Wednesday night.

The Marlins felt confident placing Brad Hand into the rotation for the final part of the schedule, and Hand delivered a quality outing against the Phillies, allowing one run over seven innings while walking three and striking out a pair.

Philadelphia's lone run against Hand gave the Phillies a one run edge in the top of the seventh. Darin Ruf opened the inning with a walk, and scored on a Kyle Kendrick two-out RBI double.

Miami, though, tied the game in the bottom of the frame against Kendrick. Garrett Jones opened the inning with a double and scored on an Enrique Hernandez RBI double to center field.

With runners on first and third and one out in the eighth, Marlon Byrd's RBI single with one out against Chris Hatcher gave the Phillies a one run lead that would not be lost.

A.J. Ramos and Carter Capps each pitched well in relief. Miami will look to win the series with a victory on Thursday afternoon.
