The Miami Marlins got beat down last night, but they're looking for revenge against the NL East champion Washington Nationals. The Nats are looking to take the second of this four-game series and will have Doug Fister on the mound, while Miami counters with the eminently decent Tom Koehler.
Pitching Matchup
ProJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | NATIONALS | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.26 | 3.86 | 3.71 | Koehler | Fister | 2.55 | 4.00 | 3.56 |
Doug Fister is pitching in a strange fashion this season after starting the year on the DL with an arm injury. So far, it has worked to the tune of a 2.55 ERA, but his 4.00 FIP shows that he hasn't been as good as his old self, at least by pitching-independent measures. Meanwhile, Tom Koehler simply is Tom Koehler, a decent back-end starter, nothing more or less. And that, by no means, is bad.
Lineup
Justin Bour and Enrique Hernandez get the starts in another day to see the youngsters play in Miami. Good for the Fish to try some of these players out at positions of need.
Bold Prediction: Nationals def. Marlins 4-3
