The Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals will battle a few days fresh off of the team's division victory. The Marlins will send out Brad Hand to face local product Gio Gonzalez in the first of a four-game series.
Pitching Matchup
J ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Nationals | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.51 | 4.33 | 4.36 | Hand | Gonzalez | 3.79 | 3.20 | 3.17 |
The Miami Marlins will send out Hand fresh off one of his best starts of the season. He put up six innings and gave up two runs on four strikeouts and no walks in an eventual 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. For Gonzalez, surprisingly this is just the second time he will face Miami this year. The last time he met them, he whiffed five and walked two in six innings while shutting them out on three hits.
Lineup
The Marlins are batting Jeff Baker cleanup and Reed Johnson fifth in the lineup. That is a pretty far fall from the normal.
The team is also starting Enrique Hernandez tonight at third base to make up for Casey McGehee's poor performance versus lefties so far this year.
Bold Prediction: Nationals def. Marlins 5-2
