MLB Scores: Miami Marlins 2, Atlanta Braves 5

The Miami Marlins could not stay the course in their contest against the Atlanta Braves, as the team committed a crucial error in the big seventh inning, leading to their 5-2 loss.

The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves got off to a slow start in tonight's contest. Tom Koehler and Ervin Santana dueled to a standoff early in the game, as the first run did not come through until the sixth inning. It was Marcell Ozuna who helped deliver that run, as Casey McGehee and Garrett Jones singled on consecutive hits before an Ozuna double drove the first run of the game. Unfortunately, Jones was thrown out at home on the play by Jason Heyward and the cutoff man and Miami failed to bring home a second run.

The Braves came right back, as they scored two runs off of Tom Koehler in the sixth inning. Justin Upton hit a two-run homer to give the lead to the Braves, but Miami came right back in the seventh inning. Jordany Valdespin came in to pinch hit and launched his second homer of the season as a Marlin, and the game was tied at two runs a piece.

It did not, however, stay tied, as  the bottom of the seventh unraveled for the Marlins. The first three baserunnners reached on singles, and Heyward drove in the go-ahead run. Three batters later, with two outs, Justin Upton singled on a grounder up the middle, and Ozuna botched the pickup and let the ball roll past him, which allowed two runs to score to seal up a 5-2 victory.

Ozuna helped the Marlins' cause the most among the starters, with three hits on the night and the team's lone RBI among the starting players. The Fish did draw four walks off of Santana but otherwise had just four hits beyond Ozuna's night.
