Coming off of a 7-1 victory on Monday night, the Miami Marlins will look to win the three game series with a victory in game two of the set on with the Angels on Tuesday. Nathan Eovaldi will oppose Matt Shoemaker on the mound.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Angels | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.77 | 3.34 | 4.06 | Eovaldi | Shoemaker | 3.56 | 3.43 | 4.61 |
Eovaldi is coming off of a short outing against the Rangers, during which he pitched five innings and allowed five runs (four earned) while walking one and striking out four. Eovaldi has had trouble finding the strike zone of late, and will have to throw strikes against a productive Los Angeles lineup.
Matt Shoemaker is coming off of a solid seven and two third innings performance against the Red Sox, during which he allowed one hit and no runs while striking out nine.
Lineups
Jordany Valdespin gets the start as Miami's DH and will bat second, with Marcell Ozuna hitting in the cleanup spot behind Giancarlo Stanton. Donovan Solano gets the start at second base, with Jarrod Saltalamacchia batting seventh and catching Eovaldi.
Notes
-Can Eovaldi pitch well? Jarred Cosart was solid in game one and the Marlins' offense gave him a significant amount of support.
-Will the Marlins win the series? Miami was in a position to take the series against the Rockies before dropping the last two games.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Angels 4-1
