As the clock struck 4pm, it appeared the Miami Marlins had decided to stand pat, despite having expressed the desire to obtain a 2B and a starting pitcher. This apparent apathy did not sit well with some fans:
.@Marlins fans are like a kid who's dad left to buy cigarettes 10 years ago and we keep thinking he's coming back. I'll be in park 2nite.

But, hope was not lost; there was still a chance for something, anything.
Deal could still get announced involving #Marlins, looking for starting pitcher.

And, sure enough, news began to dribble out that a deal for an SP had, in fact, been made.
Numerous reports say Astros?src=hash">#Astros have traded Jarred Cosart to #Marlins.

#Marlins Acquire RHP Jarred Cosart, Inf/Of Kike Hernandez & OF Austin Wates fr Hou. for Colin Moran, Jake Marisnick, Francis Martes & 20 ...

Here are some instant reactions about the trade from around the Twittersphere:
Mike Hill said #Marlins gave up a lot, but they got what they wanted in Cossart. They also love Hernandez

@Marlins @MarlinsNation 2 MLB ready players is always good when you give up no MLB players!

Because I think @astros did very well doesn't mean Marlins did poorly. They get legit SP3, an excellent utility MLBer, and at least a OF4.

Kike Hernandez would have been a great utility guy for years to come! #Astros
— Astros Future (@AstrosFuture) July 31, 2014
Thanks to the @Marlins for the opportunity, pumped to be part of the @astros
— Colin Moran (@CMOran18) July 31, 2014
In 2013, Astros thought seriously about taking Colin Moran with the 1st pick, not Mark Appel

Why Marisnick? Blocked by Yelich, Ozuna, Stanton. Why Moran? Blocked by McGehee #Marlins #MLBTradeDeadline
