Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals: Game 88 Thread and Ichthyomancy

The Miami Marlins are looking for the series win today against the St. Louis Cardinals, with Henderson Alvarez on the mound versus new Cardinals potential ace Marco Gonzales.

The Miami Marlins are going for the series win today after a thrilling comeback against the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday afternoon. The Fish get the Cardinals again today, and they do so with their best starter on the mound in Henderson Alvarez. Alvarez will face off against the latest in a long line of Cardinals pitching prospects, Marco Gonzales.

Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA FIP ERA MARLINS CARDINALS ERA FIP PROJ ERA
3.67 3.05 2.33 Alvarez Gonzales 9.64 6.75 ---

Marco Gonzales is having a hard time in the majors, more so than the recently-demoted Andrew Heaney certainly did. Meanwhile, Alvarez has not had any shutouts recently, so he's due! Otherwise, he has been as good as advertised and maintains the National League's third-best ERA thus far this season.
