The Miami Marlins are looking to find their identity before next Thursday's trade deadline, and after winning their fifth game on the road trip with a 7-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday night, the squad is inching closer to five hundred.
Miami scored a quick run in the first against Jarred Cosart, with Christian Yelich opening the frame with a walk and scoring on an RBI single off the bat of Casey McGehee.
A Jason Castro two run home run with two outs in the bottom of the first gave the Astros a one run lead, but the Marlins came back with a four run top of the second to take a lead they would never lose.
Cosart walked a pair in between a Donovan Solano double before Yelich added an RBI single and Giancarlo Stanton drove in three with a double to center field.
A Chris Carter single in the fifth made it a 5-3 contest, and Tom Koehler's night was done after five innings, during which he gave up three runs walking striking two and not walking a batter.
Jordany Valdespin's two run home run to left field in the top of the ninth ensured Steve Cishek would not need to be used, and Dan Jennings, A.J. Ramos, Mike Dunn, and Chris Hatcher shut things down for the Marlins out of the bullpen.
