Triple-A: New Orleans Zephyrs L 0-1 @ Iowa Cubs
Jake Marisnick, CF: 1-for-4
Andrew Heaney, SP: 7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
New Orleans suffered a tough loss in Iowa on Tuesday. Despite a fantastic outing from Andrew Heaney, the Zephyrs only managed to reach base seven times against the Cubs pitching. In my opinion, this was by far Heaney's best start of the season, regardless of level. Heaney shut down and dominated a lineup including Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Brett Jackson and Matt Szczur. If you are looking for a turnaround point in Heaney's season after his rough month of July, this might be it.
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns L 2-3 vs. Birmingham Barons
Alex Burg, 3B: 3-for-3
Austin Barnes, C: 2-for-3, BB
James Nygren, SP: 4 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Despite nine hits and three walks in the game, Jacksonville could only put two runs on the board against Birmingham. Alex Burg picked up three hits in the loss. This was a game that was played after being postponed on Sunday.
High Class-A: Jupiter Hammerheads W 7-0 (F/7) @ Lakeland Flying Tigers
Anthony Gomez, 2B: 2-for-4, 2 2B
Viosergy Rosa, 1B: 3-for-5, 2B, RBI
Blake Logan, SP: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Jupiter shutout Lakeland on Tuesday, score in all but one of the innings they played. Every player in the Jupiter lineup got at least one hit and four players had multiple hits.
Low Class-A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
No game scheduled.
Short-Season: Batavia Muckdogs L 5-6 @ Williamsport Crosscutters
Wildert Pujols, DH: 3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI
Aaron Blanton, 3B: 2-for-3, 2 BB, SB (5)
Michael Mader, SP: 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Juancito Martinez gave up two runs to Williamsport in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday to let the Crosscutters sneak out of this game with a win. Wildert Pujols and Aaron Blanton both had stellar days at the plate but it wasn't enough in the end. Batavia falls below .500 (18-19) with the loss.
Rookie: GCL Marlins L 5-7 @ GCL Cardinals
Austen Smith, 1B: 2-for-3, HR (2), 2 RBI
Jordan Holloway, SP: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
The GCL squad lost to the Cardinals on Sunday 5-7. Austin Smith, a 2014 33rd round pick out of Alabama, hit his second homer of the year in the loss.
