Miami Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants: Game 97 Thread and Ichthyomancy

The Miami Marlins will send the questionable Brad Hand to try and cut off this sweep and prevent the team's seventh straight loss as they face the San Francisco Giants.

Get out the broom breakers, because the Miami Marlins are looking to bust up a sweep!

The Fish are trying to avoid their seventh straight loss today as they face the San Francisco Giants. They will ask Brad Hand to lead the way after their top two pitchers, Nathan Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez, disappointed in their first starts of the second half.

Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA FIP ERA MARLINS GIANTS ERA FIP PROJ ERA
4.66 4.64 5.26 Hand Lincecum 3.66 3.83 3.95

Brad Hand has been bad all season long, and the Marlins have known for years that he is unlikely to be Major League quality. Tim Lincecum has been mediocre for years, and the Giants probably know at this point that he is not an elite pitcher. There's still a significant difference between them, however.

Lineup

Today's Lineups

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS MIAMI MARLINS
Hunter Pence - RF Christian Yelich - LF
Marco Scutaro - 2B Jordany Valdespin - 2B
Buster Posey - 1B Giancarlo Stanton - RF
Pablo Sandoval - 3B Casey McGehee - 3B
Mike Morse - LF Garrett Jones - 1B
Hector Sanchez - C Marcell Ozuna - CF
Joaquin Arias - SS Adeiny Hechavarria - SS
Gregor Blanco - CF Jeff Mathis - C
Tim Lincecum - RHP Brad Hand - LHP

The Marlins are packing a very similar lineup to yesterday's game, hoping to have better luck against Lincecum than they did against Tim Hudson. The only change tonight is the presence of Jeff Mathis over Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the typical "day after a night game" appearance.

Bold Prediction: Giants def. Marlins 6-3
