The Miami Marlins will try and recover from their personal struggles in their most recent home stand by taking it to the road. The Fish will travel to the City of Brotherly Love to face off against the Philadelphia Phillies. It will be Nathan Eovaldi versus Roberto Hernandez in tonight's first game.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Phillies | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.86 | 3.26 | 3.76 | Eovaldi | Hernandez | 4.52 | 5.16 | 5.23 |
Eovaldi is looking to get back on track after a series of mediocre starts. He gave up five runs in six innings against the Chicago Cubs in his last start and did not look impressive against the Pittsburgh Pirates before then. He'll look to find the strikeout touch after whiffing just five batters in his last 10 2/3 innings.
Roberto Hernandez has had an awful season, his second one in a row. He'll look to prove his mettle as a free agent addition tonight.
Lineup
The Marlins have returned Derek Dietrich to the top of the lineup with the injury to Rafael Furcal. The team also has rightfully moved Ed Lucas down to the bottom of the order as he continues to play in the place of Adeiny Hechavarria, who is still day-to-day with an elbow injury.
Notes
- Can the Marlins actually score some offense? Their last month has been dreadful offensively, but they face an easy target in the struggling Hernandez.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Phillies 4-3
