Despite a solid showing in an 8-5 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday, the Marlins' offense struggled against Yu Darvish on Wednesday night as the Rangers took game two of the series 6-0.
Texas was able to get on the board first against a struggling Jacob Turner in the third. After walking Chris Gimenez and giving up a single to Rougned Odor, Turner gave an RBI hit to Shin-Soo Choo to make it 3-0, and Choo was able to score on a wild pitch to give the Rangers a four run edge.
A Gimenez RBI single past second base gave the Rangers a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth, and a Choo RBI single against Kevin Slowey in the bottom of the fifth extended Texas' lead to six.
Turner lasted just four innings, giving up five runs while walking a batter and striking out five.
Kevin Slowey pitched three innings of one run ball in relief of Turner, and Chris Hatcher added a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Rangers ace Yu Darvish was dominant, and pitched well against the Marlins' lineup in the complete game shutout. Darvish gave up six hits while walking three and striking out ten.
Miami was 0-3 with runners in scoring position against Darvish, and struggled to put together a rally. Miami is off on Thursday before heading back to Marlins Park to take on the Pirates in a three game weekend series.
