Following a 3-1 extra innings victory over the San Diego Padres on Thursday night, the Miami Marlins will look to take game two of the series on Friday. Jose Fernandez will be on the mound for the Marlins.

Jose Fernandez is off to a hot start in 2014, and was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for the month of April. In his last home start against the Dodgers, Fernandez went seven innings and gave up three runs (two earned) while walking four and striking out ten.

Fernandez's command was better, though, in his first start against the Padres, during which he went six and two third innings and struckout eight without giving up a run.

Tyson Ross didn't pitch against the Marlins the last time the two teams matched up, but in his last outing against Diamondbacks went seven innings and gave up one earned run while striking out five.

The same lineup is coming out again for tonight's contest, and they'll look to do a bit more for Fernandez than they did last night for Jacob Turner. Miami needed an error to set up their game-winning home run, and the Fish are hoping things go a little more smoothly tonight.

Notes

-How will Fernandez perform? The Marlins earned their third road win of the season on Friday, and are right to expect a quality outing from their ace.

-Can the offense score early? Extra inning victories have become the norm for the Marlins over the past week and a half, and Tyson Ross could be dominant when he is given a lead.

Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Padres 1-0
