The Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers square off in their Sunday afternoon finale at Marlins Park after splitting their first two games in the series. The Fish have the edge on the mound today, however, as Jose Fernandez takes the bump once more and will not "ace-off" against fellow top starer Hyun-Jin Ryu, instead matching up against Stephen Fife.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | DODGERS | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2.46 | 1.63 | 1.59 | Fernandez | Fife | --- | --- | 4.78 |
It is conceivable that Jose Fernandez could have a bad day on the mound, especially against a talented Los Angeles Dodgers lineup filled with bashers. It's a distinct possibility. It is, however, unlikely, as Fernandez has essentially been unhittable in all but one of his six starts early this season. He'll look to keep that streak alive.
Fife replaces the injured Ryu in the rotation, and he is no ace. He put up respectable numbers in 12 starts in 2013, but with the way Miami's offense has been rolling, it's hard to imagine them having too much trouble.
Lineup
The rest of the gang is back in their regular lineup spots, as Miami returns Christian Yelich from a day off. This potent lineup just recently put up six runs against Josh Beckett on Friday, and Miami will look to beat on another of the Dodgers' less effective righties as this series ends.
Notes
- Ichthyomancy will be updated tonight through today's games. I had computer and moving issues in the last few weeks that have been resolved. Sorry for the delay gang.
- I should also be here for the start of this one, and I'll finally get to watch this one on MLB.tv for a change! Rich and Tommy!
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Dodgers 5-1
